Industrial Revolution Cog

Hand-carved stone sculpture.

The Industrial Revolution Cog draws on the forms and language of early machinery referencing a period defined by production, repetition, and mechanical progress.

By carving a functional industrial component in stone the work removes it from its original context and reframes it as an object of permanence and reflection.

The piece emphasises weight, scale and material presence allowing surface texture and tool marks to remain visible. These elements echo the physical labour and materiality that underpinned the industrial era itself.

Carved entirely by hand, Industrial Revolution Cog is conceived as a singular object rather than part of a series.
