Pocketwatch

Hand-carved stone sculpture.

The Pocketwatch explores time, precision and permanence through a material traditionally associated with weight and endurance.

Referencing the mechanics and symbolism of timekeeping, the form translates a delicate object into solid stone exaggerating its physical presence and longevity.

The piece draws on industrial history and the contrast between intricate function and heavy material, allowing tool marks and surface texture to remain visible as part of the work’s character.

Carved entirely by hand, Pocketwatch is conceived as a singular object rather than part of a series.
