Hand-carved stone sculpture with integrated found object.

 

Iron and Board brings together stone and an everyday domestic tool, exploring the contrast between permanence and routine labour.

 

The iron is integrated into the carved stone rather than carved from it, allowing the materials to remain distinct while existing in direct relationship.

 

The surrounding stone is carved by hand to support and frame the object, emphasising weight, balance, and physical presence.

 

By fixing a transient, functional object within stone the work reflects on time, use and the quiet repetition of daily work.

 

Carved by hand and conceived as a singular work, Iron & Board is not part of a series.
