Rhys accepts a limited number of private commissions creating unique, hand-carved sculptures in stone. Each piece begins with an idea — an object, a memory, a passion or something with personal significance — and is developed into an original work of art. From initial concept through to the finished sculpture, every commission is individually designed and carved by Rhys in his distinctive sculptural style.

From an Idea to an Original Sculpture
A commission begins with an idea. It may be an object with personal meaning, a memory, a passion or simply a form that has captured your imagination.
Working from that starting point, Rhys develops the concept into an original sculpture, considering the character of the stone, proportion, detail and how the finished piece will be displayed.
The result is not a reproduction or a mass-produced piece, but a unique sculpture created specifically for its owner.

The Commission Process
01 — Conversation
An initial discussion about your idea, inspiration, preferred scale and where the finished sculpture will be displayed.
02 — Concept
Rhys develops the idea, considering form, proportion, stone and the individual character of the proposed sculpture.
03 — Creation
The sculpture is individually hand-carved by Rhys, with the work developing naturally through the carving process.
04 — Completion
Once complete, final arrangements are made for collection or delivery and installation where required.
